A new month and a new challenge is up at Take Heart Ideas this month I wanted to show you that even the our paper packs appear to be for certain holidays or themes you can really use them for anything. I used the pathfinding paper pack to scrap some old photos from last year. Even though I am close to being up to date with this years album. Last years album is a totally different story.
I went old school with this layout and used my Creative Memories cutting system and turned all my photos into circles. I had a bunch of photos and they were all from the same event. I didn’t want to do a 2 page layout so I cut the photos into circles and then matted them so that they would stand out a bit more because they seemed to blend into the paper a bit. I also have an old template for creating journal lines and I used that as well. I am trying to get into the habit of using the stuff that I have instead of buying new stuff or new tools.
Here is my completed layout as you can see I kept the embellishment simple on the layout and I used the photo as my title. My daughter was in the Jellybeans class for acting and she used to love to go to this class. It’s funny how a year later she has no interest in acting any more. I matted all the photos onto the cream cardstock that came with my Pathfinding Workshop on the go kit. I also matted the journaling circle on the orange cardstock that came with the kit. I felt that the journaling area needed to stand out a bit so I then used the olive cardstock and popped it up with some pop dots. The hearts at the bottom is from the kit as well and is that little strip that comes on all Close To My Heart patterened paper. I love these strips because not only do they tell you all the colors that match this kit but because they are also so versatile. Their are so many different things that you can do with these strips of paper.
Here you can see that I created the journaling with a template that I had in my stash. I made all the lines with a silver gelly pen and then journaled in blue ink. I popped it up with some pop dots and adhered it over the heart strip of paper. I feel that it gives the layout the dimension that it needed.
Last but not least the only embellishing that I did on this layout was to add flowers. The bling in the middle of the flowers came with the Pathfinding workshop on the go, except for the yellow flower resin that is now retired but as I said I am working on using what I have in my stash. I love the workshops on the go because you get tons of product for your money. Each kit always comes with an exclusive stamp set, meaning you can only purchase that stamp set if you order the workshop. You get a full set of paper which is the same thing that you get in a paper pack and then extra cardstock for your enjoyment. Then you also get the assortment pack that goes with the kit that you chose. Here is the exact description of what I had in my kit. I especially love these kits for the instructional brochure that comes with many different layout instructions.
