Welcome to another week of the Make It Monday Blog Hop! Can you believe that this is the last Monday of October already! Their are some really cool things for you to learn this week from me and my other fellow crafty friends so don’t forget to hop along with everyone else at the end of my post!
Yes I know we are still in October but with November literally a week away I have already started prepping my December Daily album. This is the third year that I will be doing a December Daily album and I am really excited about it. I have some stamp sets that are just perfect for my album this year along with a Picture My Life Kit that is to die for, which you can get from my Close To My Heart shop! I am doing it a little diferently this year in that I am using the We R Memory Keepers 8×8 album. I used this album my first year doing December Daily and I found that I like this format more then the 6×8 Snap album that I used last year.
I have one issue with all this and that is that the 8×8 album only offers two styles of page protectors and that just doesn’t work for me so I had to get a little crafty this year and find a way to use my left over 6×8 Snap album protectors this year. Let me just say that I love the way it is turning out with my crafty idea. My crafty idea has been to add some washi tape to the 6×8 protectors and then just punch the holes where I need them. Thank goodness I have a crop-o-dile and left over Christmas washi tape from last year.
The first step is to add washi tape to the page protector. Look how pretty it looks already.
The next step is to flip the page protector and seal the washi tape on the other side of the protector.
Now you are going to cut the edges off of the washi tape so that you have nice pretty edges at the end of your pocket protector.
Now is when we get to play with the crop-o-dile! You are going to take the main protector that comes with whatever album that you are using and lay it over the washi taped protector. Next step is to add some washi tape to both ends of the protectors so that they are sealed together and your protectors won’t slide around while you are trying to punch holes. Then you get your trusty hole puncher (crop-o-dile in my case) and punch your holes.
The last step is you are going to cut out the little pieces that are still attached to your protector. The crop-o-dile doesn’t cut out the entire piece so that is where my trusty Close To My Heart scissors come into place. Just a little snip on each side of the hole and the plastic comes right out.
Now all that is left to put your new pretty pocket protector into your album!
There you have it! This is my plan to create the exact album that I want for my December Daily this year. I will continue to share my prepping techniques as I get my album ready this year. I have learned that prepping the album ahead of time makes it a lot easier to get my album done each week.
Now hop along with the other Make It Monday ladies and see what tricks they have up their sleeves today!
