Lickity Split

I posted the other day about how I went to Hobby Lobby and of course I bought some stuff. One of the things that I bought was this lovely embossing folder of butterflies. I love butterflies and enjoy working with them whenever I can.

On the way home I was already thinking about a card that I could make. I thought up this lovely idea to emboss different colored cardstock and layer them onto a card and that is exactly what I did.

I used my Sizzix texture boutique, she is the cutest little tool and the perfect color because she is blue which is my favorite color. Back to the steps for this card that I made in not time at all.

I embossed white, blue, and purple cardstock with the texture boutique and my new embossing folder. I then fussy cut the blue and purple cardstock so that the blue cardstock would be smaller than the white cardstock and the purple cardstock would be smaller than the blue cardstock. I adhered all three pieces to a an A2 size card which is 4¼ x 5½.

I then fussy cut a light purple piece of cardstock, which is a little over an inch wide and stamped “Thinking of You” sentiment on it. Voila my card was all done!

Butterfly Card / Thinking of You

  1. Oh Beth! This is so pretty! What a neat idea to layer different colors of embossed paper. This is a neat effect! I smiled reading your post because #1 I love butterflies! My name Vanessa means butterfly too so this might be part of the reason :) and #2 I have the same delightfully charming Sizzix Texture Boutique. I love the light blue color and that it’s shaped like a purse. I love this embossing machine! Your card is beautiful and you did a marvelous job on fussy cutting those layers and sentiment banner. Beautiful! ~Vanessa

    • Hi Vanessa,
Thank you so much for the wonderful compliment! I love butterflies as well. Cherry blossoms are my other favorite but I have not found an embossing folder for cherry blossoms yet. I love my little blue texture boutique as well. What’s not to love about her. Blue is my favorite color and then you add in the fact that she is shaped like a cute little purse. The fussy cutting was the hardest part about the whole project and that part didn’t even take me to long.

  2. So cute! This could work for all kinds of different papers and embossing folders. Thanks!

  3. That is super cute!! I admire your craftiness – I’ve been ‘meaning’ to do cards and scrapbooking for years and years, and still haven’t gotten around to it. We have an entire closet full of photos to prove it. 😉

    • Hi Jules,
Thank you for your compliment!!! I always bask in compliments when I receive them. I would love to help you out any way that I can to get you started back to scrapbooking. Scrapbooking is so important because it is your family history and it shows how you lived. I am so passionate about the importance of scrapbooking. Ok I am done ranting now :)

  4. Very pretty!
