OWH Memorial Blog Hop

memdaybloghop_2014

I can’t believe that a year has passed already since the last OWH blog hop. The time sure does fly by. This year the theme was to use red, white and blue on our cards. Lucky for me this is also the month that we celebrate national scrapbooking day. I managed to score this awesome paper pack from Close To My Heart for only $5. The paper pack had the perfect red cardstock in it along with some pretty amazing vellum paper!

I made two cards for the hop. The first one I used a sketch from Close To My Heart and the second one was an OWH sketch. The first card was a little more detailed but I really enjoyed making it. I started out creating the pocket for the missing you tag. I used navy blue cardstock that I had in my stash along with the vellum feather paper that came in the paper pack. Next I got out my crop-a-dile and some buttons that I had to attach the vellum part to the blue cardstock.

I then adhered all of this to the base of the card and went to my Cricut where I cut a tag using my Art Philoshphy cartrdige. This Cricut cartridge has everything that you need to get creative with your Cricut. I then of course decided that the card needed a little oomph so I got out my walnut distress ink and distressed the edges of everything. I was very pleased with the end result.

The next card I made was a Thank You card that I used the OWH sketch for. I cut out the paper pieces and used the same red cadstock that I used for the missing you card that I created. I orginally was going to just use a plain piece of white cardstock but quickly realized that it needed a little more. I grabbed my faded jeans distress ink and distressed the edges. I stamped the Thank you sentiment with my Close To My Heart stamp that came with my Art Philosphy cricut cartridge and cut the shape with my Cricut.

Both of these cards were really easy and quick to make thanks to the card sketches. Enjoy the blog hop!

Nice use of the vellum in this. Perfect, since the pocket still allows the tag in the sentiment to show through. Thanks for joining in the hop and supporting OWH!

I like the use of the vellum-I struggle with vellum so I really appreciate it!

Thank you for posting today and giving us something nice to see :)

Wow! That distress ink is awesome! First time I’ve seen it in use. Have seen it in stores but was afraid to purchase it but now i’ll snatch it up next time I shop! Love the cards!

I, too, love the tag in the read-through vellum pocket. I also like the scalloped edges of the circle motif in the second card and your off-center placement so more of the blue is seen. Nice projects!

I want to see if distress inks work on fabric.
