I just had to do it! I love a challenge and a friend of mine told me about this wonderful challenge over at the Young House Love site. So the deal is that I have to actually do one of those awesome Pinterest projects that I have pinned. This is so that we aren’t always pinning but we actually make the things we pin.
I decided to do the cookie sheet redesign. I found the idea here and I really enjoyed doing this project. It was super easy to do and I was able to reuse those cookie sheets that I can no longer use to actually make cookies. I happened to have two of them. I also added another pin to this challenge that I recently pinned which was the washi tape rosettes, which you can find here. I might have gone a little crazy with the washi tape but I had a blast making the rosettes and turning them into magnets.
Supplies needed for this are:
- cookie sheets
- circle punch
- washi tape
- spray paint
- glue dots
- paper flowers
- 1×1 square magnets
I decided to repurpose two of my cookie sheets, one I would turn into a magnet board for photos and the other one would be a chalk board for my daughter to use so that she can practice her sight words!
A trip to Home Depot was in order and I purchased two cans of spray paint for about $10 dollars.
My next step was to spray paint my cookie sheets. I have to say that the Spa Blue glossy paint turned out to be absolutely gorgeous!
My cookie sheets are still wet in these photos but you can see what I mean about the Spa Blue being a gorgeous color. While I was waiting for the cookie sheets to dry I started to make the magnets for the picture magnet board. I made rosette magnets and flower magnets and had a ton of fun making these. I made different sizes and used some Prima flowers that I have been dying to use but seemed to big for a layout or a card.
The first rosette I made by adding a strip of washi tape to the middle of my 1×10 inch piece of cardstock. I then scored it at every ¼ and created my rosette. I then taped some washi tape onto a scrap piece of cardstock and used the Epiphany Crafts shape maker to create an epoxy circle to put on the top of my rosette. On the back of my rosette is a 1×1 square piece of magnet (you can pick these up in your local office supply store).
Another rosette, I decided that I wanted to incorporate some type of stitching so I created my rosette and then I punched a 3/4 size circle out of white cardstock. Next I added some washi tape to a blue piece of scrap cardstock and punched a smaller circle. I adhered the two circles together and used my paper piercer to pierce holes all the way around so that I could stitch a circle. I placed a 1×1 piece of magnet to the back
The prima flowers were super easy to make I had some Creative Memories leaves and adhered a white one and a blue one together then all I did was adhere my Prima flower to the leaves! I then placed my 1×1 piece of magnet to the back of it.
After the chalk board cookie sheet dried over night you have to cure it by rubbing a piece of chalk over the entire piece of chalk board so that it can be used as a chalk board.
The spa blue cookie sheet was ready to go and all I had to do was add my command strips to the back of it and adhere it to the wall.
