This is the first year that I have ever art journaled and I started it this year because of my one little word which is CREATE. I would say that I have really put this word to good use this year with my creativity and with my business. More then half way through the year and I could’nt be more proud of myself for stepping outside of the box and doing things that I would never have done before.
Art journaling and mixed media is still very new to me and I am still very critical with myself but I am learning. I am learning to art journal, I am learning to be creative, I am learning to be easier on myself and I am learning what products I truly love and what products I just had to have because I am a YouTube junkie. So far their hasn’t been a mixed media product that I have tried that I didn’t like.
I love modeling paste and I love all the different types of modeling paste, Heidi Swapps colored modeling pastes, Liquitex modeling paste, Golden modeling paste and Faber Castell whipped spackle and yes I have tried all of these but don’t tell my honey that I bought all of these this year with coupons of course! Gelatos I would have to say are my next favorite and then comes paint and I love it all watercolors and acrylics. I do have to say that my favorite acrylic paints right now are the Dylusions paints by Dyan Reaveley for a beginner art journal/mixed media person these paints are the easiest to work with in my opinion.
Anywho let me get back to my art journal, this is probably the second page that I have done that I am just in love with. I cut the haunted house, bats and trees with my cricut explore, I painted three different layers of paint on to my gessoed pages, starting with the dylusions paint. After I got the first layer of paint on I dried it with my heat gun and added a layer of orange paint, once that dried I went in with some burnt sienna and after all that was done I knew I was in love.
I grabbed all my shapes and adhered them with some Liquitex matte medium gel which worked really well.
Here is a list of all my supplies used:
