Well this year for the first time I decided to actually take Ali Edwards class for my One Little Word and all I can say is taking the class is definitely something that I will do again! My word this year is CREATE and I have been creating in so many new ways this year. I have been a busy bee and the year is about half way over. I have completed each prompt every month, even the ones that I completed kicking and screaming.
The class is amazing and I am learning more about myself then I expected to. This past month the prompt was to create I AM cards which I did and which took me awhile. I needed to figure out what I AM and I found that while completing this prompt it was very therapeutic for me. I created them all in a mixed media style and as you all know from previous posts that mixed media is new to me.
I started off by adding a layer of gesso to each card, and then I grabbed my molding paste and my brand new Tim Holtz stencils and added some texture to my cards. After that all dried I grabbed my gelatos. Some I colored with the gelatos and others I painted with the gelatos by picking up some gelato color from my craft mat and using a paint brush with some water.
After all that dried I grabbed the I AM stamp from Ali Edwards OLW kit which I nabbed when it was on sale and stamped with my black Staz-On ink and my blue Staz-On ink. Then I journaled on each card and called them done. I wish I had taken process photos of these but I completely forgot to and I did all these steps on different days. I can’t always sit down for an hour but I can usually manage to find at least 15 minutes a day to do something.
Here are my I AM statement cards for this months prompt. Is your OLW working for you this year?
