A logo has been created. I am not only blogging but I also have a website at www.scrappingwonders.com. I offer my expertise in scrapbooking and create scrapbooks for people that just might not have the time to create their own scrapbooks. I figured that I needed a logo something that shouts this is me. This is what I have come up with. Tell me what you think. All feedback is welcome.
Organizing your scrapbooking products is key if you are going to be able to find your scrapbooking products and get your albums done. I am currently working with a small area for all my scrapbooking needs but I have organized it to the best of my ability for now. I have found many inspiration pieces that I want when I move to a bigger house. I wanted to share some of my ideas with you and get some of your opinions on the pieces that I am thinking about purchasing at some point in my life 🙂 These are just a few of my wants and I have them all posted on pinterest as well so feel free to check me out on pinterest!!! This desk is my favorite and I think any scrapbooker would love it.
We all have this problem as scrapbookers or at least I tell myself that everyone has the same problem as me. The problem is falling behind in your scrapbooking. My son is currently 13 years old and well on his way to 14 as he is more than half way there. I can honestly say that for his first 5 years of his life he has a completed album for each year and then it stops. Life gets in the way and you stop scrapbooking because you just can’t seem to find the time. For me so many things happened in my life. I got divorced, completed a bachelor’s degree in business and then went on to get a master’s degree. In between all of that I gave birth to a little girl who was born preemie. So as you can see I was quite busy! I returned to scrapbooking after my daughter was born and continued to work on my son’s albums but then my sweet baby girl looked at me and said Mommy where is my book. So I have returned to scrapbooking with a vengeance and I have realized that it truly is my passion. I so enjoy putting the pictures in the album, journaling and adding the embellishments to each layout. Scrapbooking for me is a stress relief and it provides my children with a history book of their childhood.
I still have years that need to be completed for my son but the baby’s book has been completed and I have started on the family album for 2010. I am actually about half way through with my 2010 project right now. I order the majority of my photo prints through Shutterfly when they have deals which they do on a pretty regular basis. I also plan on doing the prepaid plan through Creative Memories to have my photos printed. The prepaid plan is $90 for 750 photo prints.
My point is that catching up is possible. The best way is when you are trying to catch up is to not spend hours on one layout. Get your pictures organized in the order that you want them to be in before you sit down to scrapbook. You can organize your photos just about anywhere and even when the kiddos are awake. My kids usually hang out with me when I spread out everything all over the floor with my sort box next to me and look at the pictures with me as I am sorting them. Then when the little monsters have gone to bed I can sit down and create my layouts. The trick is to not get crazy with your layouts and your embellishments. This will make the scrapbooking go by pretty quickly and before you know it you will have a completed album. Just sitting there saying I don’t know where to begin is not going to get your scrapbooking caught up. You have to just sit down and get started. It is generally easier to start with more recent projects and work your way back depending on how far behind you are. The sooner you start though the sooner you will have your album complete and your story will be told!
Happy Scrapping Everybody 🙂
Scraplifting is a great way to inspire you to create new layouts or to get you out of a scrapbooking rut. Sometimes you just need some inspiration to finish your album. Other times you might not be sure how to layout the pictures that you have so you look for ideas. I know I have scraplifted several layouts over the ten years that I have been scrapping. I never complete the layouts exactly the same but they definitely help me when I am in a rut! I have been so busy lately creating a website and working on ideas to share on my blog that I haven’t scrapped in a few days. I think I will attempt to scrapbook tonight but you never know when you have two monsters at home how that is going to pan out! Here are a few ideas that I have scraplifted.
So I have been so busy this weekend creating a website, going to not one but 2 birthday parties and looking for buttons and rik rak for arts and crafts projects for my little 4-year-old. Then of course before you know it Monday is back and you have to go back to work!!! Geeeeezzzz no wonder why I am a coffee monster. It seems like it is always non stop. I did manage to find some time for my scrapbooking though!!! Still working on my 2010 album. I am probably about a quarter of the way done but as I am scrapbooking I realize that the whole month of February is missing. So as I sit scratching my head going really did I not take any pictures of my monsters in the month of February of 2010??? I guess its possible but I am generally a picture-taking monster!!! So I have a mission to find the month of February somewhere in my memory manager program so that I can print them and scrapbook them. Good thing is that I am using side loading sleeves that I can just go ahead and rearrange my album at any time so that the pictures can be in order. You see, some people are chronological scrapbookers and some people are theme scrapbookers. My OCD (I say this jokingly because it really should be called CDO, because the letters should be in alphabetical order) does not allow me to be a theme scrapbooker. For this reason my yearly scrapbooks are done by month. I also enjoy scrapbooking chronologically because it really gives me a chance to see how much my children have changed over the year. Toddler years and teen years seem to be the years to watch your children change right in front of your face. I wonder what kind of scrapbooker are you and why? Please leave some comments so I don’t feel like the only OCD scrapbooker in the world!!!!
I did find that during my busy weekend Wal-Mart is definitely the cheapest place to buy a package of buttons or any buttons for that matter. Michaels did not have a bag of assorted buttons and Wal-Mart did and for only $5.99!!! I bought some canvas wall hangings and I plan on letting my little monster go to town gluing buttons on her canvas. This lovely idea came to me when my little monster became fascinated with the button that fell off my sweater the other day. So I figured what better way to foster that then let her have a blast gluing a bunch of buttons!!!
Happy Scrapping Everyone 🙂
