A New Challenge For Take Heart Ideas

It’s that time where the winner of the first challenge has been announced over at Take Heart Ideas and a new challenge has gone live. This time we switched it up and the challenge is to use the sketch created by Kristie Sloan and to use at least one Close To My Heart product.

Of course since I am a consultant and I get to preview all the amazing new products that are coming out and I just had to create my layout using the new paper line Chalk It Up. If you have kids in school then this paper line is perfect for you. The paper, the embellishments and the stamps are all geared towards school and they can be used all the way from elementary students to college students. I know there are some moms out their scrapping their college students!

I really enjoyed creating with this sketch as there were so many elements involved and it really took me out of my comfort zone. For that I have to thank Kristie from Artful Adventures for creating this wonderful sketch.

Here is my take on the sketch. I used the new Chalk It Up paper pack that is going to be available August 1st.

full layout take heart

This layout was a lot of fun to make and all these pictures came from my daughters Kindergarten teacher. I love the signs that she made for her to hold.

The banner was made with the Cricut Art Philosophy cartridge and the coordinating stamp set. I used the Flaxen ink, Lagoon ink and Sorbet ink to stamp the design. I then used used some thread and poked some holes in the banner to stitch them together. I used small pop dots to adhere the banner to the layout.

The flair button was created with another coordinating stamp of the Art  Philosophy cartridge (C1575) kit and then I cut out two more circles one at 1.25 and one at 1.5 inches from the Lagoon cardstock, next I cut out another 1 inch circle and 1.25 inch circle in White Daisy cardstock to adhere to the top of the Lagoon circles. I used stickers from the Chalk It Up assortment to give them a little something. I love the admit one sticker and thought it was very fitting since my daughter is being admitted to the first grade!

title close up chalk it up

The title was simply made with some thickers and I thought that the glitter thickers went really well with the Teal Shimmer Trim that I used on the bottom of the layout.

I just had to share the close up of the Teal Shimmer Trim, I absolutely love this stuff and think that everyone should have some of it. The shimmer trim just adds that extra ummphhh to a project. The paper strip above the shimmer trim was actually the little extra strip of paper cut off of my patterned paper. All Close To My Heart patterned paper has these little coordinating strips of paper attached that you just cut off and use.

journal close up chalk it up

The last thing I am sharing with you is my journaling. Normally I write on my layouts but for this layout I just did not want to hand write on it and I definitely did not feel like getting on the computer since it was late at night. What I ended up doing was using my Phonto app, I typed my journaling and printined it on my Selphy printer. I then then just trimmed it down and adhered it to my layout. I am so pleased with the way the layout turned out.

Now it’s your turn to create a layout using this sketch and one Close To My Heart product to enter the challenge. All you have to do is pop on over to the challenge post at Take Heart Ideas by clicking HERE and link up your layout. If you don’t have a website no worries you can still link up your layout just watch the video on how by clicking HERE.

If you are in need of any Close To My Heart products just go to my shop and remember this great Chalk It Up paper pack is available August 1st and is perfect for all those layouts of your kids returning to school that you are going to make.
