I see it all the time, the same question of what kind of notebooks should I have or what type of notebooks do you have in your TN? The answer is not as simple as many people think it is because the main beauty of adapting a travelers notebook system is that you can create the system for it to be exactly what you want it to be.
Some use travelers notebooks for planning and others use it for art but at the end of the day they are meant to be whatever you want them to be. This is the reason why I created my shop and why I firmly believe in excelling at what I know. I know scrapbooking and I know art journaling and I have struggled many times with how to make all my customers happy. I have come to the realization that I can’t make everyone happy and that I am only one person so my goal should always be creating what I know how to create. Printables are not my jam and they are not something that I currently have time for so you will only find in my shop dot grid, graph and lined options as of now. I am not saying that won’t change some time in the future but for now this is the best option for me. Alright enough about me and my plans let’s get back to what can travelers notebooks be used for.
Planning: You can use this system to have a monthly notebook, a weekly notebook, a budget notebook, a meal planning notebook and these are just a few of the thoughts that I have running around in my head when it comes to planning. You can also just use one notebook and plan Bullet Journal style. I am going to keep saying this throughout this post the choice is truly yours.
Scrapbooking: You can use travelers notebooks to document a month in project life style, you can use them to document a trip, you can use them to create a mini album for each child and you can use them just to document your own life stories. These are just a few of the options that I have used my inserts for but again there are so many different things that you can do with these notebooks.
Art Journaling: This is one of my favorite ways to use travelers notebook inserts and the reason for this is the size. There is something that is not daunting to me about having this smaller notebook with fewer pages in it. I don’t feel intimidated by it and I am able to complete these little mini art journals and feel accomplished. Plus art journaling on Tomoe River paper is simply amazing and if you haven’t tried it yet I highly suggest that you do! You don’t have to follow any rules when art journaling and because the price of the notebooks itself isn’t high I don’t feel pressured to try to create a masterpiece every time I want to art journal.
Journaling: This is such a broad subject because journaling can be bible journaling, in can be just diary keeping, it can be scrapbooking and journaling together; journaling is whatever your heart desires. Journaling can be considered listing by following specific prompts per day, there are just no limits to what journaling is. Personally I believe journaling to be a little bit of everything wrapped up into one notebook.
These are just a few of the options that you have to use your travelers notebook inserts for now lets briefly talk about the actual cover to put them all in. You can make your own out of a dollar store place mat, you can buy a Midori brand one from Amazon for really decent price and then there are tons of TN makers out there that work with leather and provide you with an experience of an amazing cover. Last but not least you can grab beautiful covers from places like Scrapbook.com these covers are made from faux leather and quite beautiful but you only be able to get specific sizes and that’s a whole other blog post when you are talking about sizes.
After all this the point is this travelers notebook inserts are amazing but you shouldn’t feel overwhelmed about moving into this type of system because the system becomes whatever you want it to be not what other people tell you it should be. The joy comes in from creating something that works perfectly for you.
You can grab inserts from my shop in many different sizes and paper choices so that you can create the system that works best for you and then I have added a list of covers that you can find online via Scrapbook.com, Joanns, Amazon or Blitsy.
