December Daily Mishap!

I can’t believe that Christmas is Over!! I was non stop until today and even today my little monster has had me building things for her. She is currently in her castle that I just built and is taking a nap which means that I have a few minutes to share with you all about my December Daily that did not go as I had hoped it would.

This was my first year at attempting a December Daily and now that I have made an attempt I know what to do next year so that I am successful at completing it in a timely manner.

Taking the pictures for the December Daily was easy and as I said I would be dedicated to using my iPhone to create a December Daily Album. I took pictures and I uploaded them to Shutterfly through my phone and I had them printed at my local Walgreens on a weekly basis. This part of the project worked great for me.

The part of the project that did not work out for me was the album that I choose to use for my December Daily. I have to admit that picfolio albums are not for me. This was new for me as well as I had never used a picfolio album before. A picfolio album is from Creative Memories and it has pockets on each page. Two vertical 4×6 pockets and 3 horizontal 4½x6½ pockets. This was the downfall to me completing my project. I never realized that the majority of my photos are vertical photos and not horizontal photos. My photos were not ready for this pic folio album and I had to figure out different ways to make my photos fit.

I also felt very limited in my ability to be creative with this type of page protector or photo sleeve or whatever you want to call it! I prefer a nice piece of cardstock and the ability to place my photos on my cardstock as I wish.

My plan of action next year is to prep an 8×8 regular album and then I won’t be stuck with fitting my photos into a picfolio album. I am going to share with you my half completed December Daily. I have a little bit more free time and I am hoping to finish up this December Daily before the end of the year.

  1. Love that she is playing in her castle!

    • LOL she loved the castle it’s one of those cardboard castles that you put together and she was supposed to color it. She decided it was better to take a nap inside of it instead of coloring it! I hope you had a great Christmas!

  2. Love how it’s turning out. Prep work is definitely the key. I wouldn’t be able to keep up without it. I’m almost done with mine and honestly, I can’t wait to be done. It’s my favorite project to do but by the time it’s over, I’m ready to put all my Christmas supplies away, lol!

    • Hey Gretchen,
Thanks for the vote of confidence, lets see if I can finish I prepped the pages but I had a very hard time being confined to the picfolio sleeves. I really think that if I had prepped a regular 8×8 album it would have been easier for me to keep up with the album. I just felt like my creative juices couldn’t flow with the picfolio album!

  3. I totally agree with you on using divided pages like that. I know some people really love them but I just found it too limiting. I’m using a Sn@p album and the first thing I did was take out the page protectors! Glad your DD is coming along. I have quite a bit of work to do on mine!

    • I am still struggling with my DD and those page protectors but I am determined to finish it! The funny thing is I know for a fact if I would just give up on the whole picfolio thing I would probably be finished in a day. I just might give up on the whole picfolio thing!!! I just don’t know what to do with the album if I do so.
